About Liberty Street Software

In 1997, I took a vacation to Lake Chautauqua in New York while working as a senior Windows developer in Toronto, Canada. While shopping at a grocery store, I came across a copy of COINage, a popular magazine for coin collectors. I had been a serious collector of coins since I was 11 years old, and would inventory my collection in notebooks. However, due to my work, and family commitments, I hadn't had much time to devote to the hobby in recent years.

In the magazine, I saw ads for coin collecting software that helped collectors inventory their collections. I believed that I could create a better product at a better price, so after a few months of hard work in my spare time, I released the first version of CoinManage in 1997. It was supported by a somewhat primitive website.

One day, I received the first sale of CoinManage in the mail - a check for $39.95 from a customer named Butler. This confirmed that this was the type of business I wanted to pursue. Sales grew quickly, and I worked hard to improve the program. In 1998, we released CurrencyManage for paper money collectors and HomeManage, a simple home inventory program, in 1999. Although HomeManage didn't sell well initially, it has become one of our best-selling applications in recent years. In 2001, we released StampManage for stamp collectors.

Over the years, the most common question we've received is whether we have a Mac version. Programming for Mac has always been difficult, and we never seemed to have the time to make it happen. However, when Apple released the Swift programming language in 2016-2017, it became easier to create Mac, iPhone, and iPad applications. After a year of development, we released a Mac version of CoinManage in early 2019. It still lacks some features of the Windows product, but we are working to add them. Users can update the Mac version using the built-in App Update feature.

In the future, we plan to release HomeManage and AssetManage, our asset tracking software, for Mac as well as iPhone and iPad versions that work with the Mac versions. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us and one of our friendly staff members will be happy to help you.
